With
almost 300 sites, the three campgrounds here offer good availability with gorgeous water
views, hiking and fishing. Tent campers have 25 walk-in sites, but the path is short and
there are wheelbarrows to transport your stuff. Or check out the cool canvas yurts.
Restrooms have coin-op showers and there's a playground for kids. Book online or over
the phone.

This Southwestern adobe-style
lodge is a swank, upscale sleeping option. Rooms feature hand-painted Mexican tiles,
rough-hewn log beds and decks with a view. It's very classy and upmarket, and there are
wonderful public areas on the property.
Have a read in the Great Room or a chat in the solarium, or head out to the hot tubs on
the property for a quiet soak. The on-site spa features treatments developed by the Utes
and daily yoga classes. Check Chipeta's website for ski, soak and stay deals, where you
can ride the slopes at Telluride, soak in the hot springs pools in Ouray and spend the night
in Ridgway.

Consider yourself lucky if the
morning starts with a chorizo-stuffed breakfast burrito and white cheddar grits from
Kate's: it's the best breakfast joint for miles. The restaurant's dedication to local farmers,
cute and colorful interior and bubbly waitstaff seal the deal.

Serving up all the
standard curries in light, spicy and fragrant preparations, this tiny house of flavor is a hit.
Pad Thai, crispy duck and tempura round out the menu, with brown rice and Asian beers
