CAMPING
Right in Telluride Town Park, the excellent Telluride Town Park Campground ( 970-728-2173; 500 E Col-
orado Ave; campsite with/without vehicle space $23/15; mid-May-mid-Oct; ) offers 42 campsites,
showers, and swimming and tennis. There's even a bit of beach at a couple of riverside spots. Campsites are all
on a first-come, first-served basis, unless it is festival time (consult ahead with festival organizers).
Two campgrounds in the Uncompahgre National Forest are within 15 miles of Telluride on Hwy 145 and cost
$20 per site. Sunshine Campground ( 970-327-4261; off County Rd 145; sites $20; late May-late Sep)
is the nearest and the best, with 15 first-come, first-served campsites; facilities at Matterhorn Campground (
970-327-4261; Hwy 145; sites $20;
May-Sep), a bit further up the hill, include showers and electrical hook-
ups for some of the 27 campsites.
Eating
Meals and even groceries can be pricey in Telluride, so check out the food carts and the
taco truck on Colorado Ave with picnic table seating for quick fixes. Gaga for sustainabil-
ity, many local restaurants offer grass-fed beef or natural meat; we indicate those with the
greatest commitment to sustainability.
Clark's Market

after picking up supplies at Clark's, the nicest market in town. It stocks specialty goods
and scores of treats, with fresh fruit and deli meats.
