Glenwood Springs' main attraction, these hot
springs pump out 3.5 million gallons of mineral water a day, which flow through two
main pools, the 400ft-long big pool (90°F; 32°C) and the 100ft-long small pool (104°F;
40°C). It's been operating as a resort for over 125 years now, so there are plenty of other
additional amenities, namely a spa, hotel, waterslides and golf.
The full-service spa is one of the nicest in the state, with a suite of offerings - massage
tables, tubs to soak in (the guys' tub comes with a flatscreen ESPN overhead) and exer-
cise equipment.

Yampah Spa
( 970-945-0667;

; 709 E 6th St; admission incl towel rental $12; 9am-9pm)
Entering
these caves feels like descending into one of Dante's layers of hell, at least in terms of
temperature. It's hot - damn hot (110°F to be exact; 43°C). First developed by the Ute
hundreds of years earlier for therapeutic purposes, mineral-rich hot spring waters run
along the cave floors at a temperature of 125°F (52°C), filling the interior with hot steam.
The natural caves have been a commercial facility since the 1880s, and though they've
been widened and slightly remodeled in the years since, they still have a primeval feel.
Additional spa treatments are available.
