) This casual Carolina BBQ spot is located at (fittingly) the south end of town, toward
Leadville. It's the best choice for a tasty affordable meal, with stalwarts like pulled pork
sandwiches, jalapeño poppers, short ribs and buffalo burgers. There are also a couple of
Colorado beers on tap at the pinewood bar - need we say more?

crackling fireplace and knock back margaritas with everyone else who came down the
Minturn Mile, then mosey through the swinging doors for dynamite Mexican in the dining
room. Arguably the best après-ski in Vail. It posts regular updates of Minturn Mile condi-
tions on its Facebook page.

Info on camping and hiking in the Holy Cross wilderness. The office is 1 mile north of
Minturn, shortly after you exit I-70.
Getting There & Away
Minturn is 8 miles southwest of Vail on Hwy 24 (I-70 exit 171). ECO buses ( Click here )

Center.

Beaver Creek

Breach the regal gates in Avon, 9 miles west of Vail just off I-70 (exit 167), and you'll
emerge onto a private mountain road skirting a picturesque golf course as it climbs to the
foot of a truly spectacular ski mountain. Beaver Creek feels like one of those delicious
secrets shared among the rich kids, and it is indeed a privilege to ski here.
Today the perfectly maintained grounds and neo-Tyrolean buildings lend a certain
looming grandeur, as do names like Park Hyatt, set in the main village, and Ritz Carlton,
