Colorado Mountain Express ( 800-525-6363; www.coloradomountainexpress.com ; ) Colorado Moun-
tain Express shuttles to/from Denver International Airport ($92, three hours) and Eagle
County Airport ($51, 40 minutes).
Eagle County Airport ( 970-328-2680; www.flyvail.com ; 219 Eldon Wilson Dr) This airport is 35 miles
west of Vail and has services to destinations across the country (many of which fly
through Denver) and rental-car counters.
High Mountain Taxi ( 970-524-5555; www.hmtaxi.com ; airport $142; 24hr) Vail's signature taxi ser-
vice serves the entire valley from Vail to Eagle, and is equipped for pets, kids, skis and
snowboards. The airport service seats six people. Book online or call.
Summit Express ( 855-686-8267; www.summitexpress.com ; adult/child $84/42) Shuttles to/from Denver
International Airport (three hours).
Vail Transportation Center ( 970-476-5137; 241 S Frontage Rd) Greyhound buses ( 800-231-2222;
www.greyhound.com ) stop at the Vail Transportation Center en route to Denver ($33, 2½
hours). This station also serves regional buses.
Getting Around
Vail has fine public transportation: it's free, it goes where you need to go and operates at
short intervals. Traveling by bus is thus faster and more convenient than most car trips.
Eagle County Regional Transportation Authority ( www.eaglecounty.us ; per ride $4, to Leadville $7) ECO buses
offers affordable transport to Beaver Creek, Minturn and even Leadville. Buses run from
roughly 5am to 11pm, but check the website for the exact schedule. Buses leave from the
Vail Transportation Center.
Vail Transit ( www.vailgov.com ; 6:30am-1:50am) Serves the local golf course and loops through
all the Vail resort areas - West Vail (both North and South), Vail Village, Lionshead and
East Vail, as well as Ford Park and Sandstone. Most have bike and ski racks and all are
free.
