indie cafe on the ground floor of the Solaris complex. Beans are roasted by City on a Hill
( Click here ) in Leadville; the breakfast grub and sandwiches are from bōl. It also serves
beer and wine in the evening.
CAFE
Vail Ale House
( www.vailalehouse.com ; 2161 North Frontage Rd; 11am-2am) Another notable West Vail destination,
this is really the only local place to sample Colorado's diverse selection of craft beers. En-
joy 20 great picks on tap from Avery (Boulder), Great Divide (Denver), Left Hand (Long-
mont) and Ska (Durango), among others.
BAR
Garfinkels
( www.garfsvail.com ; 536 E Lionshead Circle; 10am-late) In Lionshead, this wooden lodge-style pub
has a wide deck overlooking Vail Mountain. It also has a pool table, a killer circle bar with
Colorado Native on tap and a dozen flatscreens showing all the sports you could want.
Saturday night karaoke starts at 9pm, but before you perform, check out the wall of fame.
Frank Sinatra has tossed back a couple here.
PUB
Los Amigos
OFFLINE MAP GOOGLE MAP
(400 Bridge St; 11:30am-9pm) If you want views, tequila, and rock and roll with your après-
ski ritual, come to Los Amigos. The Mexican food is decent at best, but the happy- hour
prices and slopeside seating more than make up for any culinary shortcomings.
BAR
Samana Lounge
OFFLINE MAP GOOGLE MAP
( www.samanalounge.com ; 228 Bridge St; cover varies; 9pm-late Tue & Thu-Sun) A basement nightclub in
central Vail with frequent live music. It's sax-driven funk to classic-rock cover bands, as
well as resident and visiting DJs. The calendar gets especially packed in summer and
winter, but it brings live tunes to the Vail people in mud season too.
