( 303-545-5200; www.thebradleyboulder.com ; 2040 16th St; d with breakfast $264; HOP) An elegant
downtown Boulder mansion with polished wood, local art and stained glass salvaged from
a nearby church, this is a great upscale option. More regal than cozy, it still does the job
with great service, complimentary tea and baked goods and an afternoon wine-and-cheese
hour. Rooms are unique, some with fireplaces, Jacuzzis or balconies.

( 303-442-4344; www.boulderado.com ; 2115 13th St; r from $264; ; HOP, SKIP) With a cen-
tury of service, the charming Boulderado, full of Victorian elegance and wonderful public
spaces, is a National Register landmark and a romantic getaway. Each antique-filled room
is uniquely decorated. The stained-glass atrium and glacial water- fountain accent the
jazz-washed lobby. Guesthouse rooms across the street are slightly bigger and cheaper,
but lack the historical gravitas.
The Alps
( 303-444-5445; www.alpsinn.com ; 38619 Boulder Canyon Dr; r $204-279; ; N) Construc-
ted in the 1870s, this inn charms with Mission furnishings, stained-glass windows and an-
tique fireplaces. Many rooms feature private Jacuzzi for two with French doors leading to
a garden, patio or private porch with views of Boulder Creek and the canyon. The gener-
ous spa amenities appeal to couples looking for a romantic stop.

One of the better options in town, this peach-tinted chain opens up to the west, which
means top-floor rooms get beautiful Flatiron views. Rooms are far from fashionable but
they are comfortable and spacious with a desk, sofa and queen bed. Well run, it's less a re-
sort and more of a business hotel with free wi-fi in the lobby and hard-line internet in
rooms for a fee.
If you're into amenities, it's not a bad splurge.
