In the 1950s, '60s and '70s, Boulder went through a major real-estate and business
boom, with the arrival of megacompanies like IBM and Ball Aerospace and the meteoric
rise of local enterprise Celestial Seasonings. Today, Boulder has around 99,000 residents
and nearly 30,000 students, yet its founding themes - nature, education, culture and pro-
gress - endure.
