GAY & LESBIAN DENVER
Even though Colorado has some very socially conservative areas, Denver is as progressive and broad minded as
you get in the inner-mountain west, and gay and lesbian travelers should expect no particular trouble. Overt dis-
plays of affection in public might cause some raised eyebrows, but this is probably true for heterosexual couples
as well. The bohemian Capitol Hill district, especially the bars on Colfax, are the center of the gay and lesbian

hang-out spots include the following:
11am-2am; 15 RTD) The quintessential Denver gay cowboy bar gets Brokeback on two dance floors (there's
a non-country room for you city fellows). The nightly line-dancing classes are worth it.
3pm-1:45am Mon-Fri, noon-1:45am Sat & Sun) This gay strip club (down to their Marky Mark's) is kind of
trashy, but fun for sure.

Denver's best gay dance club has an 18-and-up night on Thursday, Friday drag shows and lesbian nights (just
once a month). There's a definite pretty-boy focus, with good music and a scene to match. Saturday is the biggest
dance night.
3pm-2am Mon-Sat, noon-2am Sun) Two stories of manly madness, with your typical gay anthems, a younger
crowd and a patio, this is the 'it' spot for gay men in Denver.
St; 11am-2am; 101 RTD) Though it attracts an amiable crowd of gay male professionals after work, the
central location endows Denver's premier bear bar with a flirty pick-up scene on the weekend. The sidewalk seat-
ing is a plus.

ist lounge with a very sexy vibe. This place offers one of the best happy hours in town -
from 3pm to 9pm the martinis cost around $3 and there's a massive list to choose from.
