Activities
There's a lot of talk about how the people of Denver are, on average, the slimmest in the
USA, and it's easy to understand why. The city is checkered with lovely parks and green
spaces, and the siren call of the rugged Front Range is ever-present. Plus, the sun is al-
ways shining. City elders and wags at the Chamber of Commerce are wont to brag about
the 300 annual days of sunshine with which Denver is blessed, and the residents seem de-
termined to soak up every minute of it.
The South Platte River is lined on both sides with lanes for cycling, jogging and
strolling. From here, you can hook up with all of Denver's off-road cycling trails, which
extend for over 100 miles across the city. Pick up a bike at one of the B-Cycle Stations
that are littered around the downtown area - there are more than 80 in all. When things
get hot, roll up your pants and escape into the cool currents near Confluence Park, take a
kayaking lesson from Confluence Kayaks, or rent some gear at the impressive REI flag-
ship store and head for the mountains.
