DENVER IN...
Two Days
Start at rejuvenated LoDo and see its historic stables and warehouses converted into restaurants and boutiques.
Check out the facade of Union Station ( Click here ) and the Oxford Hotel ( Click here ) before brunching at Snooze
( Click here ) or Steuben's Food Service ( Click here ). Check out the restaurants and boutiques of bejeweled Lar-
imer Sq and the Big Blue Bear ( Click here ), then head to Civic Center Park ( Click here ) with its Greek amphi-
theater and stately buildings flanking three sides. Spend the afternoon touring the Mint ( Click here ) and State
Capitol ( Click here ) before decided between Rioja ( Click here ), Squeaky Bean ( Click here ) and the classic Wazee
Supper Club ( Click here ) for dinner.
Day two is museum day. Head to Golden Triangle and visit either the Denver Art Museum ( Click here ) or the
Clyfford Still Museum ( Click here ). Local history buffs can check out the History Colorado Center ( Click here ),
the Byers-Evans House Museum ( Click here ) and the Denver Firefighters Museum ( Click here ). The Denver
Public Library ( Click here ) is a good break spot. Hop on a B-Cycle ( Click here ) in the afternoon to check out the
Cherry Creek Trail , or maybe head to the foothills for a hike at the Jefferson County Open Space Parks ( Click
here ). Come nightfall, head to Linger ( Click here ) in Highlands, or see what's happening at the Denver Perform-
ing Arts Complex ( Click here ).
Four Days
On day three, get yourself to the Denver Zoo ( Click here ) or the Denver Museum of Nature & Science ( Click
here ), then stroll through the huge City Park to stock up at the weekend farmers markets. Make you way over to
Confluence Park ( Click here ) to cool off in the river. Grab a B-Cycle and pedal down the river to Elitch Gardens
( Click here ) amusement park to ride the Mind Eraser roller coaster. Check out Domo ( Click here ) for a sushi din-
ner or head to one of the town's many arts districts for gallery browsing and bistro dining.
There's plenty more to do in Denver, but if it's summer, find some wheels and make for the mountains on day
four. Head northwest through Golden Gate Canyon State Park ( Click here ) on your way to Estes Park. It'll be al-
most a two-hour drive. From there, head up the stunning Old Fall River Rd to the Rocky Mountain National
Park's Alpine Visitor Center ( Click here ). The views are breathtaking. Or take a drive out to Red Rocks Park &
Amphitheater ( Click here ), 15 miles southwest of Denver in Morrison. The setting, between 400ft-high red
sandstone rocks, is spectacular. In winter, you know what to do: head to Vail ( Click here ), Keystone ( Click here ),
Breckenridge ( Click here ) or Winter Park ( Click here ), all less than two hours away, for world-class skiing.
