In-Depth Information
Aristotle's Lyceum
Building plans for the neighbouring site were shelved when excavators dis-
covered some ancient ruins. These remains were subsequently identified as the
Lyceum of Aristotle (the school the philosopher founded to compete with Plato's
Academy). The site has been taken over by the Byzantine Museum.
Tip: In summer, there are often concerts in the courtyard. Call ahead to find
out what's on and when.
Tip: The museum has a café located in a secret garden. Alternatively, head
to one of the cafés or restaurants on Plateia Kolonaki.
