A Miscellany of Finds
Ever since the 1940s, archaeologists have used the forum as a repository for
small, unclassifiable finds from all over Attica. Thus the site is studded with out-
of-place but fascinating extras, like the wall of mismatched capital pieces near
the Vespasianae (latrine), or the garlanded sarcophagus, about which little is
known, by the fountain.
Tip: During the harvest moon in late August (considered to be the biggest,
brightest moon of the year), there is a free moonlit classical concert here.
Tip: Most restaurants around the Roman Agora are touristy and overpriced.
Head for nearby O Platanos, on Diogenous, which offers simple, tasty and reas-
onably priced taverna fare.
