In-Depth Information
9 Conclusion
Different oxidoreductive enzymes, such as azoreductase, NADH-DCIP reductase,
Ribo
avin reductase, laccase, lignin peroxidase, tyrosinase and veratrol alcohol
oxidase are involved in dye decolorization. The reductive enzyme system, such as
azoreductase, generates toxic aromatic amines, but a combined reductive and oxi-
dative system works better for detoxi
cation of azo dyes. A combination of both
oxidative as well as reductive enzymes removes azo dyes toxicity.
10 Futures Prospectives
Different oxidoreductive enzymes had shown their direct
involvement
indye
decolorization. Findings of ef
cient enzymes, which are involved indecolorization
of azo dyes, are to be explored using technologies like proteomics and genomics.
Further, already knowndegradative enzymes can be cloned into single microor-
ganism using genetic engineering technology to enhance the decolorization ef
-
ciency of synthetic dyes by microbes.
