In-Depth Information
6. Create an Adobe ID or sign in with an existing one .
If you've owned a previous version of Elements or purchased another Adobe pro-
gram, you may already have an Adobe ID that you can use. If you have other Adobe
products, Elements usually picks up this information from the files on your computer.
If it doesn't or if you have more than one ID and it offers you the wrong one, just
click “Not your Adobe ID?” and enter the correct information. If you don't have an
Adobe ID, click Sign In, and then click “Get an Adobe ID.” Otherwise, click Sign In.
7. Choose the language you want to read the software agreement in .
Give the agreement a quick read, and then click Accept.
8. Enter your serial number, and then click Next .
See Beyond This Topic for info on where to find your serial number.

for instance), just agree to the one the installer suggests, which is your Mac's main
Applications folder. The Elements updater always expects to find the program there,
so you'll have fewer problems with updates if you don't change the install location.
10. Click Install .
Enter your OS X account password when the installer asks for it. The installer then
does its thing, which takes a few minutes (you can watch its progress in the window).
11. Click Close to close the installer or click Launch Now to start using Elements .
Clicking Launch Now brings up a window where you need to select your country, and
also a note that you may be tempted not to read, but which is very important. In Ele-
ments 13, you're automatically signed up to let your computer send Adobe info about
how you use Elements. Adobe says that this will allow them to “provide you with a
more personalized experience.” If you don't want Elements to send this info to
Adobe, click the link that says “To change your preference now, click here,” which
launches your web browser and takes you to your account page at Adobe.com, where
you can change this setting. If you change your mind later on, you can change your
