In-Depth Information
Figure 13-17. Here's the apple image from earlier in this chapter. Just adding a bevel gives it
much more dimension and depth. Complex includes a variety of elaborate styles that can make
objects look like they're made from metal, cactus, or several other materials. These styles are
particularly useful for applying to text.
▪
Glass Buttons
are supposed to make objects look like, well, glass buttons, but many
people think they look more like plastic. They're useful for creating web page buttons.
▪
Image Effects
give you tons of ways to transform photos, including fading them and
making them look like the pieces of a puzzle or a tile mosaic.
▪
Inner Glows
add light around the inside edge of an object.
▪
Inner Shadows
give an object a hollow or recessed look by casting a shadow within it,
rather than outside it like a drop shadow.
▪
Outer Glows
create the same kind of light effects as inner glows, only around the
outer
edge of the object.
▪
Patterns
apply an overall pattern to an object. Want to make something look like it's
made from metal or dried mud, or to fill in a dull background with a vivid pattern? You'll
find lots of choices here.
