Figure 10-5. By painting on the layer mask with different shades of gray, you can make the adjust-
ment's effect partially transparent. Here, a fairly light gray was used to paint over the trees and
ground on the left side of the image so that a little green and brown show through, but it's not the
bright, saturated color of the original photo. (Only part of the left side of the image was painted so
you can see the contrast with what was there before.)
