Figure 6-11. This photo of cassia flowers has a Pattern Fill layer over it. (Page 215 has more
about Fill layers.) Here you see the effect of changing the pattern layer's blend mode. In Normal
blend mode at 100 percent opacity, the pattern would completely hide the leaves, but by changing
the blend mode and opacity of the pattern layer, you can create very different looks. The modes
shown here are Normal (top), “Linear Dodge (Add)” (bottom left), and Hard Mix (bottom right).
Notice how “Linear Dodge (Add)” makes everything much lighter and Hard Mix produces a vivid,
posterized effect.
