1 Central Police Station Compound
HISTORIC BUILDING

This disused police-magistracy-prison compound, comprising 27 buildings in Victorian
and Edwardian styles modelled after London's Old Bailey, offered one-stop, handcuff-to-
leg-iron service before 'streamlining' was fashionable. It's usually closed except when
hired for events, but there are plans to turn it into an art complex with gallery, cinema and
museum by 2014. ( www.centralpolicestation.org.hk ; 10 Hollywood Rd;

2 Graham Street Market
MARKET
The market stalls and open-air canteens centred on Graham St are a compelling destination
to stroll around to get a close look at the exotic produce that Hong Kong prides itself on
selling and consuming. Preserved 'thousand year' eggs and fresh tofu curd scooped from
wooden tubs are just some of the items on display. (Graham St, Soho; admission free;
Central, exit

Top Tip
Booking & Tipping
It's strongly advisable to book ahead in all but the cheapest restaurants, especially on Friday and Saturday nights.
Most places above midrange add a 10% service charge to the bill. If the service at a top-end restaurant is outstand-
ing, you might consider adding another 5% or 10% on top of the service charge. At midrange places, $5 to $20 is
sufficient.
