Carnival Mansion
Carnival Mansion has a courtyard where you can stare up at a vortex of rickety postwar
homes. Inside are yellow terrazzo stairs with green balustrades made by Shanghainese
craftsmen half a century ago.
Success Stationery
Next door is Success stationery shop, run by Ray and Philip since the '70s. You'll also
spot the curious 'triangular public toilet' . Continue down Austin Ave and make a left on
Chatham Rd South. Rosary Church is Kowloon's oldest Catholic church.
Gun Club Hill Barracks
At the big junction, make a left into Austin Rd. The canon-guarded gates of Gun Club
Hill Barracks , now home to the People's Liberation Army (PLA), is on its other side.
Turn into the leafy alley ( Jordan Path ) just next to the gates.
Jordan Path
Note how functional buildings loom up on your right, while manicured lawns of colonial
recreation clubs unfurl on your left. As you near Jordan Rd, you'll see PLA hospital with
its darkened windows. Crossing Cox's Rd takes you to Victorian-style, Anglican
Kowloon Union Church (c 1927). Continue along Jordan Rd for Jordan MTR station.
