Opened by local residents, this tiny museum is located in the historic Blue House , a hand-
some pre-WWII building with cast-iron Spanish balconies reminiscent of New Orleans.
Conservationists love it; those living in the area hate it. The not-for-profit museum runs

The massive Convention and Exhibition Centre, which was built in 1988 and extended
onto an artificial island in the harbour for the official ceremony of the return of sover-
eignty to China in 1997, has been compared with a bird's wing, a banana leaf and a lotus
petal. It's a leading venue in Asia for trade fairs and conventions. On the waterfront prom-
enade just in front there's a 6m-tall statue of Hong Kong's symbol, called the Forever
Blooming Bauhinia. The statue marks the return of Hong Kong to Chinese sovereignty
and the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR). (
