From Castle to Palace
The Walk
Edinburgh Castle, the Palace of Holyroodhouse and the Scottish parliament are what make
Edinburgh Scotland's capital. This walk links the city's most iconic sights by following
(mostly) the Royal Mile, the ancient processional route followed by kings and queens trav-
elling between castle and palace. Our route occasionally shifts sideways to explore the nar-
row closes and wynds that lend Edinburgh's Old Town its unique, historic atmosphere.
