The Sights in a Day
The best way to arrive in Stockbridge is by walking along the Water of Leith ,
starting from either Dean Village (10 minutes) or the Scottish National Gallery
of Modern Art (25 minutes). Stroll the streets and browse the shops before enjoying lunch
at one of the bistros in St Stephen St.
Walk along the cobbled lane of St Bernard's Row, then Arboretum Ave and Ar-
boretum Place to the Royal Botanic Garden ( Click here ) , and plan to spend
the rest of the afternoon exploring its many attractions. Don't forget to grab a coffee at the
Terrace Cafe ( Click here ) and soak up the view of the castle.
Stockbridge nightlife is decidedly low-key, consisting of tempting restaurants
and laid-back bars. Book a table at Cafe Fish ( Click here ) for a relaxed seafood
dinner, then grab a sofa in the Stockbridge Tap ( Click here ) to enjoy the best of Scottish
real ales.
