from video footage shot by a monitor from the LACS, who have been regularly
filming stag- and fox-hunts since the mid-1980s. On this particular occasion in
September 1994, the Devon and Somerset Staghounds had pursued a stag into the
River Barle near Dulverton. The LACS video evidence resulted in a five-week
hunting ban being imposed on the hunt by the Masters of Deerhounds Association
for 'inhumane killing', not for the nature of the chase, but because the video went
on to show that hunt marksmen had taken ten minutes to destroy the deer once it had
