Queen Lobster

midnight) Some of the best seafood in town is served in this utterly picturesque thatched
dining room jutting over the lagoon, which is also a great place for a drink. Fresh fish,
shrimp and lobster is served fried, sautéed in coconut sauce and steamed with butter and
garlic. It also offers two beautifully crafted bamboo and thatch huts (s/d/tr US$30/40/50)
on stilts over the water with private bathrooms and hammocks on the porch.

Coconut Delight
(Miss Betty's; Muelle, 30m S; 7am-8:30pm) Follow the sweet smells to this pink wooden
hut to discover Caribbean baking at its finest. Tear into hot coconut bread, toto (sticky
ginger bread), journey cakes, fluffy soda cakes and even vegetarian paty served with a
smile by jolly giant and all-round-nice-guy Mr Byron. They also prepare cheap and deli-
cious meals with advance notice.

Fry Fish
(Point View; Up Point; 11am-9pm) Follow the road from the dock all the way north to find
this breezy thatched neighborhood bar with cold beers and great reggae. It also serves
fantastic home-style seafood dishes.

There are no banks in Pearl Lagoon, so come with ample cash and plan on staying longer
than anticipated. You can receive emergency cash transfers at Western Union (frente Muelle;
9am-5pm Mon-Fri) . You can get online at Taylor's Cyber (contiguo Muelle; per hour
US$0.80;
8am-8pm) .
Getting There & Away
Boats run to Bluefields (US$7) at 6:30am and 1pm. Sign up the day before for the early
boat.
Every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday a panga makes the run to Orinoco
from Bluefields via Pearl Lagoon (US$12, two hours, 9am); it returns to Pearl Lagoon and
Bluefields the following day. There are pangas from Bluefields to Tasbapauni (US$12,
2½ hours, 11am) that pass Pearl Lagoon every day except Sunday. Times are liable to shift
depending upon the season, so you'll need to ask about departure times at the dock.
