Getting There & Around
El Rama is walkable, but you may choose to take a pedicab (US$0.30) the 1.5km to Rama
International Port for large, slow boats to Bluefields. The Río Escondido (US$8, five
hours) leaves at 9pm on Tuesday. The Captain D (US$4, seven hours) departs at 6pm on
Tuesday, with continuing service to El Bluff and Corn Island (US$13).
At the Muelle Municipal, close to the expreso buses, Transporte Vargas ( 24hr) and
Transporte Jipe ( 24hr) have a faster, more convenient collective panga service to Blue-
fields (US$10.50, 1½ hours). Boats leave at first light in the morning and then 'when full'
throughout the day. There is usually always service around noon and another around 3pm.
Transporte Vargas also runs private expreso buses that are timed to leave once the
morning pangas arrive from Bluefields.
Other expreso buses depart from outside the muelle throughout the day, while ordinari-
os park at the small square one block east and one block south.
