This 60-year-old craftsman gem is your Caribbean grandma's house. Rooms are spotless
with worn wooden floors and high ceilings. The common living room is filled with gor-
geous antiques - including old handblown glass buoys - and if you reserve ahead, you
may be able to snag a room with a private sea view, steps from a creaky wooden walk that
leads to the rolling sea. Nice!

This beautiful wooden home is so nice the Sandinistas
once used it as their east-coast base. Grab one of the more attractively furnished rooms
upstairs in the original house; they have the wooden fixtures and high ceilings. Down-
stairs rooms are less charming, but cheaper. Fabulous breakfasts (US$3) with terrific cof-
fee are served on the wide deck overlooking a rambling garden.
