PARK
Reserva Natural Cerro Apante
(admission US$1.50) Matagalpa's most popular hiking trail leads from Finca San Luis, a
20-minute walk (or US$1 taxi ride) south of Parque Rubén Dario, into this reserve. It's a
two-hour round-trip hike to the mirador . If you're aiming for the misty 1442m peak, it's
best to hire a guide. There are two other entrances to different sectors of the park: one is
just north of town on the road to El Tuma; the other is on the road to Guadalupe-Samulali,
off the Matagalpa-Muy Muy road.
