far the most appetizing restaurant in town, Soda El Tico is a classic steam-table buffet
with steak, pork loin and grilled chicken served with a tasty salad bar. You can also order
a variety of snacks and specialties from the menu.

Asados Gloria
(Hospital ½c O; meals US$2-2.50; noon-9pm) At last a cheap fritanga with inviting ambien-
ce and real salad. The stock standard fluorescent lights and plastic chairs have been re-
placed with wooden furniture and a trova (folk) soundtrack, and the meats are tangy and
delicious.

Soda El Tico feels just a tad too stylish for hard-working Jinotega with attractive wrought-
iron tables, big sofas, hanging lamps and huge glass windows. It has a full range of caf-
feinated beverages and a small but diverse menu including salads and gourmet sand-
