The 'Royal Hotel' has a quaint front sitting area and an old-
style
casona
(historic mansion) feel, but with relatively modern rooms bedecked with
flatscreen TVs and Flintstone-firm beds. Rooms are big and comfortable, and the rooftop
terrace has excellent views of steeple tops and the volcanoes beyond.

In a modern family home, this downtown oasis is all cool open
spaces with colonial flourishes. Rooms are comfortable enough, if slightly bland, but the
family is friendly and the service wonderful, making it a budget-busting first starter.

With its pastel color scheme and cutesy decora-
tions, this one steps firmly outside the quaint colonial box. Rooms are spacious and com-
fortable, if a little soulless, and you are a bit removed from the action in the city center.

A pearl indeed. Set in one of León's most impressive man-
sions, the Perla has everything you would expect for the price, done with exquisite taste in
a great location. There's an on-site restaurant, stately rooms with hardwood furnishings
and a decent-sized swimming pool, making this the best high-end option in town.
