Hotel Castillo offers reasonable internet access (US$1.50 per hour). The small artisan co-
operative in the Parque Central can dispense basic tourist information but has no maps
and few brochures.

Getting There & Away
BOAT
Ferries cross the lake between Granada and San Carlos twice weekly, stopping in Altagra-
cia (unless the weather is really bad) en route. Schedules change frequently. Ferry services
include the following:
Altagracia to Granada (US$4.25, four hours, 3pm Tuesday)
Altagracia to San Carlos (US$6, nine hours, 6pm Monday and Thursday) Also serves
San Miguelito.
Granada to Altagracia (US$4.25, four hours, 2:30pm Monday, 2pm Thursday)
San Carlos to Altagracia (US$6, nine hours, 2pm Tuesday and Friday)
BUS
Buses heading south from Moyogalpa all pass by here one hour after leaving before con-
tinuing south. Services include the following:
Balgüe (US$1.10, two hours, 11:30am, noon, 4:30pm and 6pm)
Mérida (US$1.25, 2½ hours, 9:30am, 3:30pm and 5:30pm)
Moyogalpa (US$0.75, one hour, 5:30am to 6:45pm, every hour)
San Ramón (US$1.10, three hours, 9:30am and 3:30pm)
Playa Santo Domingo
Windswept (sometimes a little too windswept) beaches and the island's finest accommod-
ations lie southeast of Altagracia, on the long and lovely lava isthmus that cradles Playa
Santo Domingo.
