Shuttle Bus
Considering that Managua is a one-hour, one-dollar hop in a minibus (and that León buses
leave from the spot where you arrive) and that other destinations are nearly equally ac-
cessible, shuttle service is not so popular here. If you've got your heart set on shuttle
travel, try to get a group together or you may find yourself paying for the entire trip (and
in either case a taxi may work out way better). Erick Tours ( Click here ) has airport trans-
fers for US$35 for two people. The following are also recommended:
Bearded Monkey (bearded@yahoomail.com; Calle 14 de Septiembre, Parque Central, 2c
O, ½c N) Has shuttles at 10:30am Monday, Wednesday and Friday to the Laguna de
Apoyo (US$4/10 guests/nonguests at the Monkey Hut).
Casa San Francisco ( www.casasanfrancisco.com ; Calle Corrales, Convento San Fran-
cisco, ½c O) Shuttles leave Tuesday to Sunday at 8am to Laguna de Apoyo (US$10 re-
turn).
CAR & MOTORCYCLE
It's generally cheaper to rent cars in Managua, where your rental is probably parked right
now - so be sure to allow a couple of hours for it to arrive. This region has good roads,
and many attractions, including the Pueblos Blancos. With some forward planning, you
can take cars to Isla de Ometepe.
Budget ( www.budget.com.ni ) At the Shell station.
Dollar ( www.dollar.com.ni ) At Hotel Plaza Colón.
