In-Depth Information
(Calle La Calzada, Iglesia, 1c E; dishes US$4-6; Thu-Tue) An excellent place to embark on
your typical Nicaraguan food adventure. Dishes here cost more than at your local
comedor (basic eatery), but it's a sweet patio setting and the food is carefully prepared.
The adventurous should go for the house combo (US$8), featuring sausage, fried cheese,
pork rinds and mondongo (tripe stew).
There are more relaxed options, though - indio viejo (beef stew; US$2.50), nacata-
males (banana-leaf-wrapped bundles of cornmeal, meat, vegetables and herbs; US$2) and
quesadillas (US$2.50).

cellent international cuisine, from Italian lasagna to Indonesian satay, in cool Euro styling.

La Hacienda
OFFLINE MAP
(Av Saavedra, frente Convento San Francisco; dishes US$6-9; breakfast, lunch & dinner) Good, if
slightly pricey, imported steaks and Tex-Mex favorites. The undercover outside seats have
a great view of the convent across the road.
STEAKHOUSE $$
El Ranchón
(Centro Turístico; fish US$7-15) There are probably a dozen restaurants, most of the 'fried
fish and cold beer' variety, in the Centro Turístico, but the standout is right at the end. El
Ranchón is a big, open-walled structure built on a point jutting out into the lake. Choose
your fish from four sizes - small (US$7), medium (US$10), large (US$12) or gluttonous
(US$15).

Drinking & Nightlife
Granada hops most nights, but Thursday to Saturday is when the real action takes place.
Most people start the night off at one of the bars along Calle La Calzada (and some end it
there too) before moving off to dance the night away.
