from parque central, this superfriendly colonial-style hotel is a good budget buy. The
rooms are slightly cramped with hard beds and cold-water showers, but you get a shared
kitchen, easy access to everything in town and a warm family atmosphere.

For the price you can probably do better, but this
decent and centrally located budget spot does have some sweet 1980s headboards with in-
laid mirrors. The common areas are dominated by giant water tanks, hardly an aesthetes
dream.

Decorated in an impeccable minimalist groove, with beds on platforms that rise from the
floor, this is one of the coolest options in town. Fresh flowers daily, attention to lighting
and a great courtyard for lounging are even better if you stay in the upstairs rooms. Party
poopers take note: the patio turns into a dance club on weekends.

Big rooms
surround a small pool in a prize location just off Parque Central, making this a good pick
for older travelers with an indie streak. Furnishings are all new and tastefully selected, and
bathrooms are big, with serious showerheads. There's a fully stocked kitchen for guest use
and free bike rentals.
