beautiful little cabins blend into the jungly hillside. Most have stone-walled, alfresco bath-
rooms, and all have big-screened windows, mosquito nets over the beds, and plenty of air
and light. This place books up quick, so reserve at least a week in advance. You get free
use of kayaks and innertubes from the hotel's dock.

La Orquidea

) If you can rent the whole house for four people, this is the place to stay. You get
your own living room, gorgeous, spacious rooms - there's just two bedrooms - with big
windows leading out onto balconies with excellent lagoon views. The water's a short walk
down the hill.

US$70; ) On a steep hillside leading down to the water, these cute little cabins are
comfortable enough to make you feel at home (with coffeemaker and fridge) but still have
a rustic touch, giving a sense of adventure. These are the nicest grounds along the lake,
and the restaurant and dock offer spectacular lake views.

The Villas at Apoyo

lack the great lake views that other spots have, and are missing direct beach access, but
with kitchens, living rooms, a pool and plenty of room to spread out, they are a good op-
tion for families.

need only apply for this lakefront guesthouse that sleeps up to seven. But if you all want
to hang out, it has excellent grounds, a shared kitchen, and slightly cramped and dark
rooms. Camping is in a nearby lot.
