(Seminole Plaza, 3½c S; mains US$6-10)
An artsy sort of place (for this side of town, anyway),
serving up carefully prepared versions of traditional Nica dishes like
vigorón
(steamed
yucca and pork rinds),
nacatamales
(banana-leaf wrapped bundles of cornmeal, meat, ve-
getables and herbs) and
repocheta
(cheese-stuffed tortillas).
Pan e Vino
(Enitel Villa Fontana, 200m N; mains US$7-12)
Getting the thumbs up from Italian expats, this
stylish yet unpretentious place does good-sized pasta plates and crunchy-crusted pizzas. It
has a small but decent selection of Italian, Spanish and Chilean wines (US$18 to US$25
per bottle).
