By Train:
Zagreb's main train station (Glavni Kolodvor) is a few long blocks south of

Square, at the base of the Green Horseshoe. The straightforward arrivals hall has a
traininformationdesk,ticketwindows,luggagelockers(liningthehallwaytotheleftasyou
exit the platform, 15 kn/day), ATMs, pay WCs, Konzum grocery store, and newsstands. To
reach the city center, go straight out the front door. You'll run into a taxi stand, and then

By Bus:
The user-friendly but inconveniently located bus station (Autobusni Kolodvor)
is a few long blocks southeast of the main train station. The station has all the essen-
tials—ATMs, post office, mini-grocery store, left-luggage counter...everything from a smut
store to a chapel. Upstairs, you'll find ticket windows and access to the buses (follow
signs to
izlaz na perone;
wave ticket in front of turnstile to open gate). Tram #6 (direction:

rnomerec) takes you to the main train station, then on to Jela

Square. Walking from the
bus station to Jela

Square takes about 25 minutes.
By Plane:
Zagreb's small airport is 10 miles south of the center (tel. 01/626-5222,
www.zagreb-airport.hr
). If you have time to kill, head up the stairs (near the main security
checkpoint) to the rooftop café view terrace, where you can enjoy a drink while watching
planes take off and land, with the Zagreb skyline on the distant horizon. A shuttle bus con-
nects the airport to the bus station (2/hour, 30 minutes, 30 kn); from there, you can walk
outsideandhoponatramintotown(see“ByBus,”above).Itcanbeworththeconvenience
to pay for a taxi right to your hotel (30 minutes; the fair metered rate is around 180-200 kn,
but some crooked cabbies might try to charge youmore). It'scheaper to take a taxi from the
city to the airport—figure 100-150 kn.
