Fast and Cheap: Klobasarna does one thing and does it well: kranjska klobasa —tra-
ditional Carniolan sausage, from the Slovenian uplands. The menu is simple—one wiener
for €3.50, two for €5.90, extra for jota (hearty turnip stew)—but delicious (Mon-Sat
10:00-23:00, Sun 10:00-15:00, Ciril Metodov trg 15, mobile 051-605-017). Paninoteka,

sidebar on here ) , can be picked up at street stands around town. Most are open 24 hours and

Pizzerias: Ljubljana has lots of great sit-down pizza places. Expect to pay €5-10 for an
average-sized pie (wide variety of toppings). Pizzeria Foculus, tucked in a boring alley-
way a few blocks up from the river, has a loyal local following, a happening atmosphere,
an innovative leafy interior, a few outdoor tables, and Ljubljana's best pizza (over 50 types
for €6-10, €6-8 salads, daily 11:00-24:00, just off French Revolution Square across the
street from Ple č nik's National and University Library at Gregor č i č eva 3, tel. 01/251-5643).
Ljubljanski Dvor enjoys the most convenient and scenic location of any pizzeria in town.
On a sunny summer day, the outdoor riverside terrace is unbeatable. The interior has a
simple pizza parlor downstairs (€5-15 pizzas and pastas), with a more refined dining room
upstairs (selling the same pizzas and pastas, plus €12-20 Italian main courses; pizza par-
lor open Mon-Sat 10:00-24:00, Sun 12:00-24:00, upstairs restaurant opens at 12:00, just 50
yards from Cobblers' Bridge at Dvorni trg 1, tel. 01/251-6555). Ljubljanski Dvor also has a
handy, cheap pizza take-out window (go around back to the walk-up window on Congress
Square). Enjoy a €2 slice at one of their outdoor tables facing Congress Square, or get it to
go and munch it along the river (Mon-Fri 8:00-24:00, Sat 9:00-24:00, Sun 12:00-24:00).
In the Old Town
The main drag through the Old Town (which starts at the Town Hall and changes names as
it goes: Mestni trg, then Stari trg, then Gornji trg) is lined with inviting eateries. Tables spill
into the cobbled pedestrian street, filled with happy diners. If you're at a loss for where to
eat in town, stroll here to survey your options, then pick your favorite menu and ambience.
As many restaurants along here are uniformly good, no one place really has the edge.
