Sleeping in Ljubljana
Ljubljana has a good range of accommodations in all price ranges. I've focused my listings
in or within easy walking distance of the city center. To get the best value, book ahead. The
mostexpensivehotelsraisetheirpricesevenmoreduringconventions(Sept-Oct,andsome-
times also June). To locate the following accommodations, see the map on here .
$$$ Boutique Hotels in the Old Town: Threesimilar(butunrelated),expensiveboutique
hotels cluster idyllically on a cobbled square in Ljubljana's Old Town. While a bit over-
priced (catering to deep-pocketed business travelers), they offer Old World charm with up-
scale touches. All of these are in old buildings with period touches; expect lots of stairs and
no elevators (the rates listed are for May-mid-June and Sept-Oct, followed by mid-June-
Aug, then Nov-April). Hotel Angel, part of the Lesar group, is the slickest and most chain-
feeling of the bunch. Its 12-plus rooms have crisp white decor (Db-€165/€120/€110, pricier
suites, air-con, free Wi-Fi, parking-€5, Gornji trg 7, tel. 01/425-5089, www.angelhotel.si ,
info@angelhotel.si ). Allegro Hotel has a musical theme and 17 rooms with hardwood
floors around a checkerboard-tiled garden courtyard (Sb-€100/€80/€65, “economy” D with
private bathroom across the hall-€105/€85/€70, classic Db-€140/€130/€100, superior Db-
€170/€150/€120, air-con, free guest computer and Wi-Fi, prebook for €10 parking, Gornji
trg 6, tel. 059/119-620, www.allegrohotel.si , info@allegrohotel.si ) . The family-run Antiq
Hotel is a bit older, with less polish and 16 idiosyncratically decorated rooms sprawling
through two buildings with lots of stairs and a mazelike floor plan (small S-€75, Sb-€95,
small D-€90, Db-€110-165, price depends on size, look for deals on their website, air-con,

$$$ Vander Urbani Resort is a unique concept: Nestled central as can be just off the
in-love-with-life riverfront embankment, it really does feel like an intensely hip resort in
the city center—right down to the minuscule rooftop swimming pool and sundeck. The re-
sort prides itself on the cutting-edge urban design of its 16 rooms, and tries to use Slove-
nian and organic products wherever possible (small “zen” Db with hardwood floors-€145,
standard Db-€155, larger Db-€175, pricier suites, cheaper Nov-March, air-con, elevator,
freeWi-Fi,caféandrestaurant,Krojaškaulica6-8,tel.01/200-9000, www.vanderhotel.com ,
info@vanderhotel.com ).
$$$ Cubo Hotel is a jolt of trendy minimalism on Ljubljana's hotel scene. Its 26 rooms
are the best place in town for sleek, mod elegance. Choose between streetside rooms,
which enjoy castle views but get some traffic noise, or quieter courtyard rooms (very
flexible rates but generally Sb-€135, Db-€140-180, palatial suite-€200-250, cheaper off-
season, non-smoking, air-con, elevator, free Wi-Fi, Slovenska cesta 15, tel. 01/425-6000,
www.hotelcubo.com , reception@hotelcubo.com ) .
