Local Guides
Having an expert show you around his or her hometown for two hours for €70 has to be the
best value in town. Ljubljana's hardworking guides lead tours on a wide variety of topics
and can tailor their tour to your interests (figure €70/2 hours, 50 percent more for same-
day booking, contact TI for details, arrange at least 24 hours before).

Boat Cruise
Because Ljubljana is a small town that's easily seen by foot, a boat trip on the Ljubljanica
River is more romantic than informative. You have two options for your one-hour cruise
(weather permitting): with English commentary from a live guide (€10, 2/day in summer,

market), or unguided (€8, hourly in summer 10:00-20:00, operated by various companies
and from various docks). For details, check with the TI.
Excursions from Ljubljana
Slovenia is a tiny country with many worthwhile sights that are near Ljubljana but tricky to
reachbypublictransportation.Tohitseveralefficientlyinoneday,youcouldjoinanexcur-
sion. Tour companies tend to come and go here—drop by any TI to ask about the latest op-
tions and which companies have the best reputations. You'll find fliers everywhere. Two re-
latively well-established outfits are
Roundabout
(their one-day “Karst and Coast Mystery”
tour takes you to Predjama Castle, Škocjan Caves, Lipica, and Piran for €45 plus admission
to the caves;
