In-Depth Information
Muslims, like Christians and Jews, are monotheistic. They call God “Allah.” The
most important person in the Islamic faith is Muhammad, Allah's most important
prophet, who lived in the sixth and seventh centuries A.D.
The “five pillars” of Islam are the same among Muslims in Bosnia-Herzegovina,
Turkey, Iraq, Indonesia, the US, and everywhere else. Followers of Islam should:
1. Say and believe, “There is only one God, and Muhammad is his prophet.”
2. Pray five times a day, while facing Mecca. Modern Muslims explain that it's
important for this ritual to include several elements: washing, exercising, stretching,
and thinking of God.
