lic), emphasizing substance over flashy style. Keeping things simple, Grgi ć does a white
wine ( pošip, with grapes grown on Kor č ula but produced here, 135 kn per bottle) and a red
wine (210 kn per bottle); breaking with convention, he names his red simply plavac mali
partly to help promote this largely unknown and underappreciated grape (grown here in Tr-
stenik and in Dinga č ). He also sells wines from his California winery, Grgich Hills, at or
below their California prices (200-440 kn; daily 9:00-17:00, tel. 020/748-090).
Exiting the winery, turn right (uphill) and twist up to the main road, where you'll turn
right, toward Ston. Cresting the hill, you'll see the other side of the peninsula and the chan-
nel separating it from the mainland—as if to emphasize the narrowness of this spit of land.
