Take a stroll through the shaded, relaxing botanical garden in Trsteno (worth

the coast from Dubrovnik. Non-gardeners may find it a bit dull, but Trsteno is a horticul-
turalist's heaven. Spread over 63 acres on a bluff overlooking the sea, this arboretum fea-
tures hundreds of different Mediterranean, Asian, and American plants (each one labeled
in six languages, including English). The whole complex is laced with easy footpaths and
sprinkled with fun attractions—a column-studded Renaissance Garden, a desolate villa, a
little chapel, an old mill and olive-oil press, and a seaview pavilion.
