Amore convenient public beach is

just outside the Plo

e Gate, east ofOld Town.
While this is dominated by the EastWest nightclub, by day it's a public beach with an invit-
ingswathofsandandpebbles,idealforsunbathingandwadingwithaspectacularbackdrop
of Dubrovnik's Old Town. To reach the beach, leave the Old Town through the Plo
č
e Gate,
walkaboutfiveminutes graduallyuphillonthemainroad,thenwatchforthetwostaircases
marked
EastWest
andclimbdown.(WhilethestairsnearertheOldTownpassesthroughthe
EastWest café/bar, it is public access.) The café/bar itself is slick and swanky (in keeping
with its nightclub's exclusive vibe), serving pricey food and drink. You can also rent a very
expensive sun bed (100-200 kn, depending on level of luxury), but it's much more afford-
able to bring your own towel and find a comfy patch of sand. Pay showers are nearby.
