To reach the museum in the old fortress, walk behind the cable-car station along the
rocky red soil.
Fort and Museum: The Napoleonic-era Fort Imperial (Tr đ ava Imperijal) houses the
Dubrovnik During the Homeland War (1991-1995) Museum (30 kn, various topics for
sale, same hours as cable car). As you enter, temporary exhibits are on the right, and the
permanent exhibit is to the left. Photos, documents, and artifacts tell the story (with Eng-
lish descriptions) of the overarching war with Yugoslavia and how the people defended this
fortress. The descriptions are too dense and tactical for casual visitors, but you'll see lots of
photos and some actual items used in the fighting: primitive, rusty rifles (some dating from
