Rupe Granary and Ethnographic Museum (Etnografski Muzej Rupe)
This huge, 16th-century building was Dubrovnik's biggest granary, and today houses the
best folk museum I've seen in Croatia. Rupe means “holes”—and it's worth the price of
entry just topeer downinto these 15cavernous undergroundgrain stores, designed tomain-
tain the perfect temperature to preserve the seeds (63 degrees Fahrenheit). When the grain
had to be dried, it was moved upstairs—where today you'll find a surprisingly well-presen-
tedEthnographicMuseum,withtools,jewelry,clothing,instruments,paintedeggs,andoth-
er folk artifacts from Dubrovnik's colorful history. Borrow the free English information
