No Euros: Dubrovnik's merchants can be stubborn about accepting only kunas—no euros.
(While it's technically illegal for vendors to accept any payment other than kunas, this

car to Mount Sr đ —accept only kunas (or, sometimes, credit cards). Even if you're in
town for just a few hours, visit an ATM to avoid hassles when it comes time to pay.
Wine Shop: Forthebestwine-tastingselectioninacoolbaratmosphere,don'tmiss D'Vino
Wine Bar (described on here ) . If you want to shop rather than taste, Vinoteka Mili č i ć
offers a nice variety of local wines; wry Dolores can explain your options, though she
does tend to push Mili č i ć wines (daily June-Aug 9:00-23:00, April-May and Sept-Oct
9:00-20:00,Nov-March9:00-16:00,nearthePileendoftheStradun,tel.020/321-777).
Internet Access: Most accommodations in Dubrovnik offer free Wi-Fi, and several cafés
and bars around town provide Wi-Fi for customers. In the Old Town, the modern Buzz
Bar has free Wi-Fi and loaner laptops with the purchase of a drink (daily 9:00-24:00,
Prijeko 21, tel. 020/321-025).
English Bookstore: The Algoritam shop, right on the Stradun, has a wide variety of
guidebooks, nonfiction topics about Croatia and the former Yugoslavia, novels, and
magazines—all in English (July-Aug Mon-Sat 9:00-23:00, Sun 10:00-13:00 &
18:00-22:00; June and Sept Mon-Sat 9:00-21:00, Sun 10:00-14:00; shorter hours off-

have the time (ask). The handy, fun, retro, self-service Sanja and Rosie's Launder-
ette is just outside the Plo č e Gate (cross the bridge and look left; 50-knwash, 30-40-kn

mobile 091-896-7509, www.dubrovniklaundry.com ) . Two full-service launderettes are
near the hotels at Boninovo Bay, a 20-minute uphill walk or five-minute bus trip from
the Pile Gate (one at Pera Č ingrije 8, the other at bana Jela č i ć a 1, both closed Sat after-
noon and all day Sun)—but unless you're staying in that area, Sanja and Rosie's is far
more convenient.
Car Rental: The big international chains have offices at the airport; a few also have
branches near the Port Gruž embankment where the big ships come in. In addition, the
many travel agencies closer to the Old Town also have a line on rental cars. Figure

there's usually no extra charge for drop-off elsewhere in Croatia). Be sure the agency
knows if you're crossing a border (such as Bosnia-Herzegovina or Montenegro) to en-
sure you have the proper paperwork.
