In-Depth Information
All the TIs are government-run and legally can't sell you anything except a Dubrovnik
Card—but they can answer questions and give you a copy of the free town map and two
similar information booklets: the annual Dubrovnik Riviera Info and the monthly The Best
in Dubrovnik (with a current schedule of events and performances); both contain helpful
maps, bus and ferry schedules, museum hours, specifics on side-trip destinations, and more.
Sightseeing Pass: Theheavilypromoted Dubrovnik Card coverslocalpublictransport-
ation; admission to the City Walls (one time only), Rector's Palace, Rupe Museum, Mari-
time Museum, and a few other minor sights; and various discounts around town. If you're
here for three days and plan to do a lot of sightseeing and take the bus a few times, this may
addup—figure outwhat youwant tosee, anddothe math (150kn/24hoursincludes unlim-
ited transit, 200 kn/3 days includes 10 transit rides, 250 kn/7 days includes 20 transit rides,
sold at TIs and many sights and hotels; it's cheaper if you buy it online, then pick it up at
the TI when you arrive).
Arrival in Dubrovnik
As is the case throughout Croatia, you'll be met at the boat dock or bus station by locals
trying to get you to rent a room (soba) at their house. If you've already reserved elsewhere,
honor your reservation; if not, consider the offer (but be very clear on the location before
you accept—many are nowhere near the Old Town).
