In-Depth Information
Kor
č
ula has six hotels—five of which are owned by the same company (which is, in
turn, government-run). The lack of competition keeps quality low and prices ridiculously
high—which makes
sobe
a particularly good alternative.
My favorite
sobe
in Kor
č
ula offer similar comfort to the hotels at far lower prices. Unless
otherwisenoted,theseplacesacceptonlycash(nocreditcards)anddon'tprovidebreakfast.
Apartments come equipped with kitchens, and
sobe
often have refrigerators and kettles. For
something more substantial, several cafés in town offer a basic breakfast for 30-40 kn; ask
your
soba
host for suggestions.
Sleep Code
(5 kn = about $1, €1 = about $1.30, country code: 385, area code: 020)
S

D

T

Q

b

tourist tax (about 7 kn per person, per night) is not included in these rates. Hotels
generally accept credit cards and include breakfast in their rates, while most
sobe
ac-
cept only cash and don't offer breakfast. While rates are listed in euros, you'll pay in
kunas. Unless I note otherwise, everyone listed here speaks English (or has a relative
or neighbor who can help translate).
Rates:
IfI'velistedtwosetsofratesforanaccommodation,pricesforpeakseason
(generally July and August) precede those for shoulder season (May-June and Sept-
Oct). The few places that remain open through the winter charge even less during
those months. The dates for seasonal rates vary by hotel, and prices can change
without notice; verify the hotel's current rates online or by email. For the best prices,
always book direct.
Price Ranges:
To help you sort easily through these listings, I've divided the ac-
commodations into three categories based on the price for a double room with bath
during peak season:
$$$ Higher Priced
—Most rooms €100 or more.
$$ Moderately Priced
—Most rooms between €55-100.
$ Lower Priced
—Most rooms €55 or less.
