Addresses: Everyone in Hvar ignores house numbers (you'll constantly see b.b. , meaning
“without number”) and even street names. Making things more complicated, the town
recently renamed and renumbered many streets and addresses. But locals (who don't

have twice as many ways to get lost. Navigate with maps (a good one is available free
at the TI) and by asking for directions.
Post Office: It's along the harbor's main (eastern) embankment, inside a little fenced court-
yard (Mon-Fri 7:00-19:00, Sat 8:00-12:00, closed Sun).
Laundry and Baggage Storage: Two different no-name, hole-in-the-wall outfits in the
town center offer convenient but very expensive laundry, bag storage, and
showers—handy if you're day-tripping here and want to swim in the sea. If one is
closed, check the other one. The first is a bit more affordable and well-signed along
the main promenade, closer to the boat dock (laundry-110 kn/load, full service in 2-3
hours; luggage storage-20 kn/3 hours, 35 kn/longer; shower-30 kn; daily 8:00-20:00,

Summer Fun: Youname it, Hvar has it. Various agencies in town rent cars, scooters, bikes,
motorboats, and more—just look for signs or ask at the TI.
Tours in Hvar
Old Town and Island Tours
While the town of Hvar is beautiful, there's much more to this island. But most tourists
without a car never get to see the rest. For an insightful, affordable peek at the refreshingly
unglitzy side of the island, take a tour with Secret Hvar. Owner Siniša prides himself
on introducing you to undiscovered corners that most tourists miss. He or one of his
guides—guaranteed to be a Hvar native—can take you on a “Hvar off-road tour” that in-
cludes a peka lunch and some off-the-beaten-path sights, making use of old gravel farming
roads that you wouldn't want to drive yourself (€80/person, 8 hours). They also offer
